A ball for everyone

Classical ball and LGBTIQ - a fusion of two themes that will be a special experience for everyone. In any case, the Vienna Rainbow Ball is more colourful than other balls, creating an inclusive environment where people of all sexual orientations and gender identities can celebrate together.

By combining entertainment and activism, the Rainbow Ball helps to break down prejudices and strengthen the rights of the LGBTIQ community. Together, we thus create a platform for solidarity and a symbol for diversity in our society.

General Information

Rainbow Ball Award

Thanks to the kind support of Out@L’Oréal/L’Oréal, the Rainbow Ball Award will once again be presented to an outstanding association or project at the 27th Vienna Rainbow Ball.

In this way, we support associations as well as projects that make a contribution to the LGBTIQ community. The important work of the selected winning project will be supported with prize money of 2,500 euros.

Applications for the Rainbow Ball Award are welcome starting mid-November 2024.

The Rainbow Ball is neither a clubbing nor a costume ball. We ask for your understanding that, in keeping with the festive nature of this event, persons in inappropriate clothing (jeans, T-shirts, etc.) will be refused entry (without reimbursement of costs).

  • Monika Ballwein „Baroness of soul“

    If there is such a thing as old nobility in the music business in Austria, then the Queen of Pop, Soul & Jazz is most likely Monika Ballwein. The name Ballwein is an Austrian monument. It stands for opulence, versatility, crystal-clear sound and passion. Above all, however, it stands for a woman who sings with heart and soul. Monika Ballwein's voice is the foundation of every successful Austrian music production, from glamorous live TV shows to intimate candlelit jazz club concerts.

    Like no other Austrian singer, the solo artist with roots in Lower Austria combines talent, skill and passion to an incomparable perfection.

    She studied jazz singing IGP at the Franz Schubert Konservatorium, completed further studies in Copenhagen at the CVI - and is the first authorized teacher of CVT (complete vocal technique) in Austria. In 2004 she founded her singing academy and in 2006 her singing book “Move your voice” was published by Verlag Doblinger. She taught at the University of Music (HeMU) in Lausanne (CH) and since 2023 also at the PH Salzburg in cooperation with the Mozarteum.

    Five stars of the Viennese drag scene join forces to bring you a first-class drag revue on stage. Pandora Nox, Grazia Patricia, Philisha Conditioner, Ryta Tale and Metamorkid present a modern revue with authentic stories about the past, present and future. A brilliant drag spectacle in two parts. Drag excellence at the Vienna Rainbow Ball!

    If you've had enough of monotonous beats and feet falling asleep, NicA is right there for you. A musical talent who has been sitting behind the piano since she was 6 years old now knows how to heat up the dance crowd with CD player & mixing desk.

    Since 2010 she has been playing clubs such as Palais Auersperg, Volksgarten Säulenhalle, Elysium, Camera, Titanic, Rote Bar, Heart Club and many more, and since 2011 she has been the resident DJ of the successful LGBTIQ event series PiNKED.

    In the summer of 2013, NicA's foreign booking series began with Palma de Mallorca, followed by Munich and Berlin, but you could also listen to her unique sound at the radio show FM4 - La Boum Deluxe. Austria's biggest charity event "Life Ball" subsequently booked the up-and-coming DJ for the Redcarpet and so she is also considered a regular act at Vienna Pride and most recently rocked EuroPride Vienna 2019.

    But her journey is far from over...So stay tuned!
